I'm Emily, Im so glad you're here.

My work is about interconnectivity and the relationships we have and share with objects, places, and people. For me painting is an act of storytelling, only I am not the story teller. The characters are of my time and space, but the stories are age old and repeat in the hearts of men and women. They are stories of love, life, truth, and beauty.

I am currently working on a series of narrative portraits. The series is intended to be immersive, showcasing large scale, intimate vantage points, with subjects moving in an out of frame. Viewers are brought in and made onlookers and participants. Unlike more traditional landscapes, observers are transported not just to a place but into meaningful relationships with places, people and things of significance. Subjects display strength and vulnerability in moments of connection and introspection. The work promotes empathy and interdependence while allowing us to connect more deeply to own experiences and emotions.

Watch and listen, the whole world speaks. Sometime I record what I don't understand, with the hope of better understanding it. I may not fully see the truth and beauty behind a composition while Im painting it, but what I can know is that I want more time to spend with it.
